What is Forest Certification? 

Forest Certification, or more correctly Forest Management Certification is the independent assessment of a forest against International Standards eg Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

Why do we need it?

Consumer demand is rising for timber products (and consequently timber) which originate from sustainably managed forests. Forest owners can prove that the timber and timber products from their forests come from such sustainable forests by having their forests independently assessed against International Standards by Private Forestry Certification Ireland Ltd (PFCI) through An Grupa Dubh Dara.
